My company had layoffs today -- their first ever. Miraculously, I'm still employed. I'm not sure how I managed to escape the ax, for now at least. I met with our HR coordinator last week and she made a point of mentioning, even though I did not ask, that I could still be
layed off while pregnant or on leave after birth. My boss had told me a few weeks ago when I did ask that there would likely be layoffs, but I wasn't at risk -- I didn't believe him at the time, but I guess he was telling the truth.

yikes, thats scary. i'm worried i'm going to be moved to the top of the chopping-block list at my company when they find out i'm preggers. i'm keeping it a secret as long as humanly possible!
Glad you're still employed! Sheesh how stressful.
Glad your employed but why did the HR lady have to get ignorant?
We had layoff yesterday and today as well. It's pretty scary and really sad all considering this is a time when people need their jobs more than ever. My fingers crossed that you can avoid the ax even while on maternity leave.
wow, that's crazy stressful, just when you don't need more stress. HR people can be some of the most unfeeling lot, even though they are supposed to be the helpful and caring folks. I am glad you are still employed and hopeful your boss is right at this point and you have nothing to worry about. good luck!
once again.....you just have to say thank GOD.....
